Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the Hookcast app for iPhone and iPad (“Hookcast”, “we”, “us”) and this website collect, how it is used and who processes it on our behalf. Hookcast is operated by the Hookcast team.
What you give us
- Photos you choose. The product photo or app screenshot you pick is sent to our servers to write the ad script, compose the first frame and render the video. A copy is also kept on your device so you can reuse it.
- Your ad script and settings. Text you type, the AI actor you pick and the video length.
- Descriptions of custom actors. If you describe your own actor, that text is used to generate the portrait.
What is collected automatically
- Usage and diagnostics: app events (for example “ad generated”), crash reports and performance data, used to improve the app.
- Device identifiers: an anonymous app user ID, a push notification token (only if you allow notifications) and an App Check token that proves requests come from the genuine app.
- Purchases: subscription status and purchase history, handled by Apple and our subscription provider. We never see your payment details.
- Advertising measurement: if you allow tracking in iOS, anonymized install and purchase events may be shared with ad networks to measure our own campaigns. You can change this any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
How we use it
- To generate your ads and deliver them to you, including a notification when a video is ready.
- To provide subscriptions and enforce plan limits.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
- To understand how the app is used and fix problems.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use your photos to train AI models ourselves.
Who processes data for us
- OpenAI: analyzing the photo, writing the script and composing images.
- MiniMax (Hailuo): rendering the video from the first frame and script.
- Google Firebase: analytics, crash reporting, remote configuration, App Check and push notifications.
- RevenueCat: managing subscriptions and purchases.
- Meta and Google: advertising measurement, only with your permission where iOS requires it.
- Our hosting provider: runs the servers that relay requests to the services above.
These providers may process data outside your country. They act under their own privacy terms and only for the purposes above.
How long we keep it
Photos and generated videos stored on your device stay there until you delete them in the app or remove the app. Copies on our servers and with the providers that render your ad are kept as long as needed to generate and deliver it and to handle support requests. You can ask us to delete them at any time. Analytics data is kept in aggregated form.
Your choices and rights
- Delete photos and ads in the app's gallery at any time.
- Turn off notifications or tracking in iOS Settings.
- Ask us for a copy of your data or to delete it by writing to the contact option in the app. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California) you may have additional rights, which we will honor.
Children
Hookcast is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
This website
This site does not set cookies and does not use analytics. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. Links to the App Store may carry a campaign tag so we can tell which page led to a download.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
